Do you love thrifting items for your homeschool? What is the best thrift you ever found? If I had to guess, I would say that 90% of everything we have for homeschooling has been thrifted. My kids are used to second-hand items, we are rarely disappointed, and the money saved is such a blessing! Here is a list of my six favorite thrifts and where I found each one.

A 3rd grade Math Textbook from ACSI for $3! Full color and easy to follow. We loved it so much, I ended up buying this same textbook for 4th and 5th grade, for $15 each. Where did I find it? In person at my state’s used curriculum consignment sale.

Creative Playthings “Build-A-Picture. Possibly the best $5.99 I have ever spent on a toy. This vintage game from the 1970’s provided hours of entertainment for my daughter from ages 4-9. Independent playtime is a gift this mom appreciates, and the game also fosters creativity, speaking skills, and storytelling. Where did I find it? At a children’s consignment store.

Music Appreciation set of 20 CDs for only $16! Some were still new in the wrapping. They sell for around $9 each online, but I am keeping these. I found this nice review of the series if you’re interested: https://thecurriculumchoice.com/story-introduction-classics/. Where did I find it? At a pop-up used curriculum sale in 2020.

A set of 3 old-school readers for only $8 total. We lost one for many months and when I looked online to replace it, that book alone was $16! I didn’t replace it, and luckily it turned up a few months later, squished between the back seats and the way back of the car. Fun fact – my mom said she learned to read with the same readers back in the early 1940’s! (We have a newer edition, but the original copyright date was 1942.) Where did I find it? In a Homeschool Marketplace on social media.

Vintage music cabinet. I thrifted this handy, multi-shelved cabinet for only $25. It is a necessity for my creative daughter; her clay and jewelry creations were taking over our house! Where did I find it? Online marketplace, and it was just two streets over from our house!

Old-school Melissa & Doug license plate game and Melissa & Doug hangman for $16. We use the license plate game all summer since we live in a high tourism area. Honestly, I think I love this even more than the kids! Hangman isn’t as big a hit as the license plate game, but it’s still a win. Where did I find it? My state’s online inventory clearance sale.
